Isaac's first bath

On June 30, Isaac got to have his first bath, and he didn't much like it. See above.
On July 1 and 2, Isaac and I had our first Dad-free days because Judah had USMC Reserve duty to make up, but we did OK. He had a little cold, and Tuesday he just wanted to eat and be held and Wednesday he just wanted to sleep. He's feeling better now, thankfully.
The night of July 3, he slept in his crib (overnight, sort of) for the first time.
July 4, he went to his first party -- Ribfest, which we intended to go to for an hour or two and ended up staying at for about six hours, helped in part by Isaac's sleeping for the first two and a half thereof.
Also on the Fourth, he wore his first non-gown outfit, and on the 5th he got his nails trimmed successfully for the first time. (I tried before that and failed, but Judah got the job done.)
He met his Aunt Pat on July 3 and his Uncle Lance and Aunt Judy today.
He is a busy little boy!
I mentioned a couple of posts ago that my mom was having to delay her trip because she was ill. It got a little more complicated since then. She went in the hospital Thursday before last and was diagnosed with an impacted bowel and sent home with drugs and instructions. Monday she was in worse and worse pain and got a hold of her doctor, who had said she might get an MRI if things hadn't gotten better by then, and instead he said that he couldn't do anything else for her and she should go to the hospital again. Tuesday, she went back to the hospital, and after a CT scan and exploratory surgery, it was determined that she had been misdiagnosed and had been walking around with a ruptured appendix for six days, which had left her with a massive infection. So she has been in the hospital fighting the infection, but she is doing a lot better, and tomorrow they will evaluate her to see whether she can be released. I talked to her a little while ago, and she sounded much, much better than she had in two weeks, so that was reassuring.
